Sponsored Programs
Our funding comes from two major fundraising
activities.
Each August Fairfield Kiwanis can be found
manning Gate 13 in nearby Mount Pleasant as campers arrive for the
Old Threshers Reunion. Kiwanians register campers and field
complaints as well as checking out those campers when it is time for
them to depart. Kiwanians put in between 1,500 and 2,000 man hours
at this event, ending the day after Labor Day.
Close on the heels of OTR is the annual Kids’
Day Parade and pancake breakfast, our other fundraiser, which is the
third Saturday in September.
All events are free except the breakfast, at
which we have served over 2,100 people each of the last two years.
There is a parade, petting zoo, face painting, clowns, barrel train
rides, entertainment, pony rides and varied activities throughout
the day.
In addition to these major fundraising
activities, Fairfield Kiwanis also has a Chuckwagon, which is
available for auctions, horse shows, or other events where food is
needed. This is manned by members of the Fairfield Kiwanis who cook
and serve sandwiches as well as beverages, chips and candy bars.
